Springtime Candy Haystack Nests

Springtime Candy Haystack Nests

My husband and my boy love to watch a show called “Agents of Shield” together. It’s their special “boys only thing” they do.

When they are having their boy time my daughter, Ciera and I usually take off for another room in the house, and do girlie stuff together. We usually craft, paint nails, bake (sometimes all of the above!) but tonight we did something a little different.

First we went back into my room, snuggled up on my bed together, and I listened to the sweet sweet sound of her read to me- in Spanish to boot!! (thanks to her Spanish immersion program at school!)

SO amazing to hear her read. So crazy how fast she has learned this year.

After she read to me for a while we decided to make a fun, easy, no bake springtime treat-

Springtime Candy Haystack “Nests”-

You’ll need:

1 package of chow mein noodles

1 cup of butterscotch chips

1/2 cup peanut butter

and some mini Cadbury eggs for garnish

Place 1 cup of butterscotch chips and 1/2 cup peanut butter together in a large microwave safe bowl, and microwave for 2 minutes. Stir.

Now, add 4 cups of the chow mein noodles to the chip/peanut butter mixture

and drop by the spoonful (mine were very large spoonfuls) onto wax paper. Top with 3 different colored Cadbury eggs.

Pop them into your freezer for just a few minutes for them to set.

How CUTE are these?!?! They would be perfect for a fun Easter brunch dessert. And seriously, they are too easy to make! Have fun, and please, get the kids involved. Ciera did almost all of this project herself, and was just thrilled when they were complete.

PS- Here’s a little hint- you can make these ahead of time, and pop them into your freezer until you are ready for them. They freeze perfectly! ENJOY!!

Finally feeling better

It's been such a LONG 5 days here at the Newman house. Ciera was SO sick. I've never seen her so sick in my life. Between the fevers, throwing up and her sleeping all day- it was all pretty scary!

I'm happy to report now that she is {almost} back to her normal self. By 9:30am this morning she had eaten mini pancakes, 2 pieces of toast and a little bit of apple juice. Now it's lunchtime, and she's eating turkey slices and crackers. Guess she's making up for not eating for the last week. haha.

As nice as it is to have her rest and nap, (she so rarley does that anymore, and was one of those toddlers who stopped napping at 1 1/2) It was super scary. I'd rather have her be her normal, feisty, energetic, "Let it Go" singing self. ANY DAY.

In fact, she's feeling good enough today to finally get her little self up off the couch and do a little art. She loves her art! That's how I know she's feeling better!

Thank you Jesus for healing my sweet baby girl, it's been a scary last few days, but through it all I knew YOU were right there with us, protecting us, giving us strength and watching over our family- especially little Ciera. I ask you now for protection for the rest of us-- Myself, Charlie and Brandon. Please keep us all healthy for a long long time! AMEN.

Maybe I will think a little harder about getting the flu shot next year...
